CAMP PROGRAM INFO: WHAT’S THE GIRLS LEADERSHIP SPECIAL SAUCE?

Professional & Crazy Fun Staff — Our Educators teach for us all year round. They live and breathe our renowned curriculum, and they’ve been practicing our trademark camp games for years, so they are more than ready to rumble.

Summer Program Director Cora Garner is an American Camp Association Member. She came to us after working at Cornell University, Stanford University, and most recently the University of California, Berkeley. Through her work in Higher Education, she has developed and taught courses that focus on identity and community development.

At Girls Leadership we want you to be true-to-you. Every day starts with community games. Our theatre-based workshops focus on developing personal and societal leadership, such as how to ask for what you need. In these sessions girls practice new tools for speaking up for themselves and for others.

We also create beautiful art projects, stay active outside, and always have a spirit theme for the day. These activities are designed to encourage girls to embrace who they are, reflect on what they believe, and give them an opportunity to express themselves creatively.

BRIEF CAMP DESCRIPTION: Learning math feels like play in this engaging summer camp that helps your child improve skills and build confidence to head into the new school year! Math Quest Camp is a joy-filled week of cool number challenges, real-world projects, math mysteries and games that make math fun and easy to understand. By the end of camp, all the kids have their favorite ways to “play” with math. They'll head to the school year with a boost in confidence, improved math skills, and the belief that math is fun!

CAMP INSTRUCTIONAL ACTIVITIES OFFERED:
Technology, Computers, Science, Math, and more.

CAMP LOCATION: Our Santa Clara location is just off of 280 and Lawrence (on the border of Cupertino and Santa Clara). It is convenient to those in the south bay and lower peninsula.

Our Portola Valley location is located on beautiful Sand Hill Road, about 10 minutes from highway 280. It is a good choice for those located along the mid and upper peninsula.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our Santa Clara camps are held in a spacious and inviting home with a beautiful outdoor space for math movement, games, and activities.

The Portola Valley location is surrounded by trees and nature, and includes a classroom, kitchen, library, and other mini-spaces for math exploration.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We believe play is the ideal way for kids to tap into their curiosity and love of math--and to motivate themselves to even greater challenge and mastery.

Too many kids have only experienced math as tedious, boring rules with no connection to real life. Math Quest camps change all that, making math exciting and fun even for kids who think they are "bad at math".

Math Quest Camps (formerly "Growing Smart Kids") was awarded Best Summer Camps in 2014 by Activity Hero.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Alpha Summer in San Francisco is one week inside the real Alpha School. The fastest way to know if Alpha is the school for your family. Grades K-8, running seven consecutive weeks from June 8 through July 24, 2026.

Mornings are personalized, AI-powered academics at exactly your child's level. Two hours of math and reading, mastery-based and adaptive, done by lunch. Alpha uses adaptive AI apps (not chatbots) to meet each student where they are, adjusting in real time. Alpha classes rank nationally in the top 2%, all with just two hours of academics a day.

Afternoons belong to life skills workshops. Depending on age, your child could be publishing a hardcover book with AI, building and training their own AI chatbot, launching a real mobile app, or leading a startup pitch on stage. Each week features two workshops across three dimensions: personal grit, teamwork, and entrepreneurship.

Friday is the showcase. You go home with three deliverables: an NWEA MAP report showing where your child stands nationally in math and reading, a student profile written by their guide based on the week's observations, and a personalized academic plan projecting where your child could go next.

The guide's job is to hold each child to high standards, support them through challenges, and make sure they love coming to school every single day. By Friday, your child's guide will truly know them: their goals, their motivations, how they handle adversity, and what makes them come alive.

Every family is paired with a Dean of Parents, a dedicated point of contact whose only job is to make sure your family has everything you need.

$2,500 per week, or $9,000 for four weeks. Sibling discount available.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Alpha Summer in the East Bay is one week inside the real Alpha School.

Throughout the session, TASCers experience pride and fulfillment as they enrich the Camp JCA Shalom campus. In addition, TASCers get to experience the best components of the general camp program along with a special out-of-camp overnight trip. For over 45 years, the TASC program has been one of our most popular teen programs.

TASC : California Kibbutz -
(entering 11th grades)

TASC Kibbutz is a new program created just for entering 11th graders. This program is an immersive three week program designed to be the ultimate Jewish camping and leadership experience. In TASC Kibbutz, we transport ourselves back a hundred years ago to feel what it was like for some of the pioneers who made their way to Israel. The "Kibbutzniks" will have to "create their own world" at camp. They will build their own living area, cook many of their own meals, and even help work the farm at camp! By creating a kibbutz at JCA, the Kibbutzniks will come together as a tightly knit community, grow closer to the land; learn about sustainability and organic farming; and gain knowledge of kibbutz life in Israel- all while having fun at camp! While the Kibbutzniks will spend the majority of time creating their kibbutz, they will still be connected to camp, spending sometime every day with the rest of the camp community, and still participating in many of camps offerings such as horseback riding and the ropes course. At the end of the program, the Kibbutzniks will leave with a sense of accomplishment, a set of friends for life, and a true finale of their last camp experience before becoming a Counselor-In-Training (CIT).

CIT: Counselor-In-Training
(entering grade 12)

These future leaders have a lasting effect on both the spirit and welfare of Camp JCA Shalom. Workshops in Jewish programming, child development and leadership training, along with observation, individual supervision and actual work with younger campers, helps the CIT explore the functioning and philosophy of camp, and develop his/her leadership abilities. This is an enriching and exciting experience as well as an important step towards future staff positions at camp. By the end of the summer, the CITs have the opportunity to become junior counselors during Session 3, and will receive a small stipend. Personal Interview required.

All Teen Leadership Programs:

- Require an additional application and interview prior to acceptance.
- Have a minimum and maximum number of participants.
- Have opportunities to gain community service hours.
